Kadhahi, also known as Karahi is a traditional Indian style round base pan mostly used for cooking curry dishes, or frying. Due to round bottom, this utensil is suitable for gas burners. However, due the round bottom and thick metal sheet, it as well gets heated up evenly and quickly which makes the food cooking faster and makes dishes like puri coming out golden red.

Size: 20cm (good for cooking for 1 to 2 people).

Mild steel/ iron utensils naturally develop spots of rusts when not in regular use, this is normal. These utensils would need to be cleaned of such rust and seasoned before using them first time, per the method below. After this first time seasoning, just wash them with mild soap, when ever there appears rust spots.

To prepare mild steel/ iron Karahi for the first use:

  1. Wash it with warm soapy water and dry it.
  2. Put this karahi on the stove at hight or in the oven at 250C for few minutes.
  3. Let it cool down a little. Take a cloth soaked in cooking oil and wipe it over the inside surface of the pan.
  4. If there appear any black parts peeling away - it's normal, as the manufacturers put a protective layer for safe transport.
  5. Heat the karahi pan again and let the oil burn out. Repeat this process 4-5 times. Be careful while handling hot surface.

Do not use abrasive cleaner for cleaning the mild-steel/iron utensils. Mild-steel karahi is not suitable for Dish-Washer/
