Garam Masala is the Indian equivalent of French herbes de Provence or Chinese five-spice powder. It is an aromatic blend of spices extensively used in Indian cuisine and is one of the most essential spice mix in an Indian kitchen. It is an all purpose seasoning which adds a sweet warm flavour to curry, rice dishes and breads. Garam masala is best when added at the end of cooking and can even be sprinkled on a dish when serving.
